Initially it was functioning at Chettalli, under Central Horticultural Experimental Station (CHES). Later during the year 1992, the erstwhile Citrus Experimental Station, Gonikoppal activities were shifted to Chettalli and Krishi Vigyan Kendra started functioning at Gonikoppal.

Plantation of  Coconut Plant:
A tall plant, coconut tree’s height is close to 20-30 meters in length. Coconut tree has an approximate age of 60-100 years. Coconut fruit is used for cooking, as well as medicinal purposes. The coconut tree is considered unique and special as each, and every part of the coconut tree is usable.

Coconut fruit: Coconut fruit is used for cooking. We get coconut milk, coconut water and tender coconut skin from the coconut fruit. When dried, the coconut fruit is used as Kopra. Coconuts are also used to extract oil, which is preferred widely. Coconut Trees are important for us all, be it humans, animals or birds. But we have somehow not protected them and perhaps that is why as on today we have been affected by global warming, severe pollution levels and other ill effects of deforestation. But it is still not so late.

The planting process involved digging holes of appropriate size and depth, placing the coconut plant carefully in the holes, and filling the gaps with soil. They ensured that plants were planted at a sufficient from each other to allow for proper growth and development.

Conclusion:

We enjoyed and the information is informative us. Through this module we hope to inspire more students to take up similar initiatives and make a positive impact on the world.
